Profile
Eric Dreos is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the College of Architecture and Design and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. For the past 18 years Eric has been honing his skills in the fields of landscape and pool design here in the Southwest. Working for various install firms, Eric learned proper requirements and how to develop a concept into a full-scale composition for install. Six certificates, earned through yearlong Desert Landscape School Credential from the Desert Botanical Gardens (Desert ecology & plant biology, Desert plant palette, Planting and Maintenance, Sustainable Desert Landscapes, Desert Design and Landscape Install.) Lastly, Certified Interlocking Paver ICPI Installer.
What has grown Eric since graduation is time spent in the industry, and one of the most important parts of building a relationship with the homeowner is to educate them on what truly works and steering them clear of potential landmines. Eric focuses on understanding the homeowners’ wants and desires by asking open ended questions and fact finding. This reveals products and design concepts that can full fill the true desire of the homeowner. Price is on almost a client’s mind, asking for their budget gets down to what makes them tick and if the desires match the budget.
Eric ‘s approach to providing a final design is based on professional methods taught in Architecture School. The first one starts with fact finding and bubble diagram, placing features based on best fit (spatial relationship), site lines and flow of pathways. Next, creating a3D design using the latest technology, 3D rendering software called Structure Studio. This software design helps develop the layout, the design is built in layers, defining materials so that the final rendering displays a complete concept. Along with that is material sheets with images and specifics pertaining to the plant or hardscape material. At the point of providing a quote the sections are broken out, so a homeowner knows where every invested dollar is going. The final design piece is a scaled Plan View construction design layout and corresponding legend. These same components assist the homeowner in submitting to their HOA for approval.
Landscape design is as unique as the individual. Listening is a skill, just as important as design. It starts with understanding the homeowner’s vision. The goal is to develop a master plan concept, which only can be accomplished by the client sharing their vision. What drives Eric is a passion for design, taking a blank slate, a small space or building on an existing foundation and bringing it to life. Eric’s overall goal is to connect the inside with the outside space drawing the client year-round outdoor living, an oasis to escape, or a quiet sanctuary.
